Good scout leader

A heart to love nature, a heart to consider root valuable, a heart to respect etiquette, a heart to create beauty, a heart to make a sacrifice and act of bravery. All these hearts made the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in full of festive mood beyond races, religions and languages.

Under the theme “Future is Now”, looking at eyes with full of curiosity of young scouts and leaders from 160 countries, I am very proud of myself, having been a part of scout movement for 25 years.

Otherwise, I am shamed not to fully fulfill my duties on youth movement when looking back. However, I belatedly try to think about real leader for a better future with willingness to actively join in scouting as a good leader

Since scout movement occurred in 1907, World Organization of Scout Movement has become the biggest youth NSO that more than 500 million young people have been involved and there are currently 40 million members in 169 countries and territories. Also, it has consultative status to the UNICEF, ECOSOC, UNESCO, WHO.

To be a good scout leader, we have to keep racing by doing our best for a bright future. We have to help our young people get good value, creative ability, various experience so that they play a leading role in the future.

Anybody can make environment for young people to play freely, but it is not easy to make them have good behavior and a sense of public. It will be necessary for leaders to take initiative and set an example.

Conversation skill is also important. It doesn’t mean good talking, but good expression with dignity. We have to understand the difference between them.

A humorous leader is a great leader. Humor is a necessary part of health life and has the role of a relationship buffer. It gave UK victory in World War II in very difficult situation.

Be lavish with young people’s praise. Compliment is the greatest of all virtues. It has a very strong power to change the destiny of people, even countries. Since roles of scout leaders are very important and we play those roles with sincerity.

Leaders’ smiles and eyes move young people’s minds, While being Solemn, determined and speechless. Leaders’ sacrifice and volunteerism played a catalyst for expanding youth movement in Korea.

I definitely sure that scout leaders have made best practices for the young people and led youth movement in Korea. I resolve to be a great leader for a better future.
